DoT to organize virtual meet on PM-WANI on 28 June next

ITANAGAR, 1 Jun: The department of telecom (DoT) NE LSA unit is going to organize a third virtual meet on PM-WANI on 28 June next for awareness of all existing and prospective stakeholders.

Department of telecommunications DDG (SC) Souvick Kumar Das has in a release on Wednesday, informed that interested existing/prospective PDOs/PDOAs/citizens may submit their willingness to join along with suggestions/feedback at dir.arn-dot@gov.in in this regard.

The union cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved the proposal of DoT to proliferate broadband through public Wi-Fi networks under the framework of the Prime Minister’s Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI).

The PM-WANI framework facilitates ease of doing business and encourages local shops and small establishments to become Wi-Fi hotspot provider’s public data office (PDO). The local shops and small establishments as PDOs may earn extra income from selling internet without any requirement of license, registration and or any fees to DoT.
