ITANAGAR, 9 Jun: The All Arunachal Pradesh Abotani Students Union has written to the state election commissioner, stating that non-APST candidates should not be allowed to contest in the panchayat by-polls.
The union said it has already written to the government regarding exclusion of non-APST people from the PRIs but there has been no response.
It urged the commissioner to direct all the district election commissioners not to entertain the candidature of non-APST persons.
The State Election Commission on Tuesday announced by-polls to 130 gram panchayat seats, along with one zilla parishad seat, on 12 July.
