PUNGLWA, 14 Jun: The East Zone Inter-Sainik Schools Sports & Cultural Meet-2022 began at the Sainik School here in Nagaland on Tuesday.
Six sainik schools, including the one in East Siang district of Arunachal, are participating in the five-day meet, Kohima-based Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Sumit K Sharma said in a release.
Addressing the cadets in the opening ceremony, 3 Corps HQ Chief of Staff Maj Gen RS Guraya exhorted them to “find passion in sports, so as to bring more laurels to the country.”
He said that education today has undergone rapid changes and it can no longer be confined to just within the four walls of a classroom.
“Academic excellence along with sports, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities complements the process of education in order to become an effective leader and a responsible citizen,” Maj Gen Guraya said.
Earlier, he inaugurated the outdoor sports stadium named after renowned footballer Dr T Ao.
