CATC for NCC cadets underway

BOMDILA, 1 Jul: Altogether 277 NCC cadets are participating in the 10-day combined annual training camp (CATC) of the 2 Arunachal Pradesh NCC battalion of NCC Group HQ Tezpur, which got underway at the government college here in West Kameng district on Friday.

After inaugurating the camp, DC Karma Leki said that “NCC is a principle of life with discipline, unity and sincerity and commitment for patriotism.”

The DC highlighted the salient features of the Agnipath recruitment scheme, and also dwelt on the issue of drug abuse among the youths. He advised the cadets to “become brand ambassadors in the fight against drug abuse.”

Colonel Mridul Mittal highlighted the activities which would be carried out during the camp. “The skills acquired by the cadets will be honed and tested, which include drill, field craft, battle craft, map reading and navigation, and communication skills,” he said.

The cadets will also be given live firing practice with .22 rifles.
