ITANAGAR, 3 Jul: The Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS) on Sunday re-introduced its bus service to Dimapur in Nagaland after a gap of two years.
Special secretary (transport) Parul Gaur flagged off by the bus in presence of several officers and official of the department.
Speaking to the reporters, special secretary Parul Gaur informed that there was a demand coming up from Dimapur for re-introduction of the bus service which was stopped after several train services from Naharlagun to Dimapur were introduced and passengers were minimized.
“Since the route is a revenue area so a new and smooth service was needed. It was found that the bus service to Miao did not have many passengers so the department has introduced a force traveler service in its place and the same bus has been deployed in the Dimapur route,” she informed.
“As of now, ten Volvo buses are running in different routes which include Tezu, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Shillong, Pasighat and others. Other deluxe bus services to district headquarters and other routes are also plying as usual,” she added.
Senior station superintendent Tuter Dulom informed that the activities of
the APSTS have been continuously increasing by connecting new routes and providing new services as per requirement.
He further informed that the Dimapur bus service will ply every alternate day.
