Meeting held to resolve land dispute, communities agree to maintain peace

YINGKIONG, 5 Aug: Upper Siang DC Shashvat Saurabh convened a meeting here on Thursday to resolve the Eko Dumbing/Riwotala land dispute between the Adi and the Memba-Khamba communities of the district, in view of the communal tension that had arisen over the dispute.

During the meeting, which was attended by, among others, the SP and representatives of the Chime Yangsang Pema Kod Welfare Society, the Himong Youth Association, the Eko Dumbing Forest Development Society, the Adi Bane Kebang, the Memba Welfare Society, the Khamba Welfare Society and the Idu-Mishmi Welfare Society, both parties “arrived at the consensus that the four-point resolution

decided in the meeting held at the level of the chief minister on 7 January shall be implemented,” the Upper Siang DIPRO informed in a release.

“It was also agreed in the meeting that both Adi and Memba-Khamba communities shall maintain peace, tranquillity and communal harmony in the district,” the DIPRO added.
