An appeal to ANYA from unemployed tourism youths

Editor,

Through this esteemed daily, I, on behalf of unemployed tourism youths, would like to thank the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) for raising the issue of tourism and posting of DTO in districts.

Those were days when only 2-3 districts were popular for tourism, but now every district is emerging as a potential tourism hub. But most of our districts are without a regular DTO. In many districts, other administrative officers are given the additional charge of DTO. But DTO is a technical post, and only those with a tourism background must be appointed to this post.

In the last 20-25 years, not a single post of DTO has been recruited to. A single post of TIO was advertised in the year 2021, but written exam for it has not yet been conducted. Unemployed tourism youths have submitted memorandums to the tourism department several times in the last 6-7 years for the creation and advertisement of DTO and TIO posts. But the department never took interest in it and in most of the districts the tourism department is being run with the help of temporary DTOs.

We don’t know about the scope for development of other industries in our state, but the scope for the tourism industry is huge in Arunachal. The government knows very well that tourism can generate huge revenue and employment opportunities. In spite of this fact, the tourism department is not interested in recruiting DTOs.

After knocking on every door, we got only disappointment and frustration. We, the unemployed tourism youths, are well qualified – all we want is to write exams for DTO and TIO posts.

Therefore, we unemployed tourism youths appeal to the ANYA to kindly follow up the issue and, if possible, visit the tourism department.
