Appeal for recruitment of assistant professors in colleges

Editor,
On behalf of the assistant professors currently serving in various government and government model colleges across Arunachal Pradesh, I would like to draw the attention of the chief minister to the urgency for regularization and recruitment of assistant professors in the state.
As per the latest data, a total of 194 guest faculty members are serving in 17 colleges across the state, including reputed institutions such as JNC Pasighat, DNGC Itanagar, IGGC Tezu, and several model colleges. Many of us have been rendering services continuously for the past four years and more, fulfilling all teaching responsibilities without benefits, job security, or recognition that come with regular positions.
Despite our dedication, commitment, and contribution to higher education, there has been no clear recruitment drive or regularization process announced by the government. This prolonged uncertainty is causing increasing mental, emotional, and financial distress among the teaching community. If left unaddressed, it may lead to growing unrest and potential chaos in the academic environment, affecting not only educators but also the students and quality of education in Arunachal Pradesh.
We, therefore, humbly request the following:
Ä Immediate advertisement and recruitment of regular assistant professor posts across all government colleges in Arunachal Pradesh, department-wise.

Ä Recognition of the services of long-serving guest faculties through preference or relaxation in recruitment policies.

Ä Assurance of a transparent, fair, and time-bound recruitment process by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission or through a special recruitment drive.
The chief minister’s visionary leadership has always prioritized the development of education in the state. We sincerely hope and believe that he will take urgent steps to resolve this long-pending issue and ensure academic stability and justice for the teaching fraternity of Arunachal.
Bage Kamsi,
Resigned assistant guest professor,
