PASIGHAT, 19 Sep: The East Siang District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) conducted mock exercises on earthquake preparedness at five selected locations here in East Siang district on Thursday.
Personnel from the district police, NDRF, SDRF, BRO, CRPF and NCC cadets, besides aapda mitras demonstrated disaster preparedness and post-disaster rescue operations.
East Siang DC Sonalika Jiwani spoke on the importance of such mock exercises in raising awareness among the people about disaster preparedness.
She urged the officials to make coordinated effortsand conduct such mock drills and training on disaster management from time to time to sensitize both the people and the volunteers.
The mock drills covered BP General Hospital, the DC’s office, the Town Middle School, and two other locations in the Pasighat market.
