Editor,

I would like to highlight an issue concerning the ongoing confusion over the PGT mains examination under the APPSC.

It has come to notice that a few candidates are urging the commission to conduct the PGT mains on 27 and 28 November, referring to the dates mentioned in the advertisement. While their eagerness is understandable, such demands overlook the actual situation of the recruitment process.

Firstly, the commission itself has clearly stated in the provisional list of candidates selected for the mains that “the date for the PGT mains examination will be notified soon.”

This official announcement means that the earlier exam dates are no longer valid, and a fresh schedule will be declared. Insisting on the old dates contradicts the commission’s own notification.

Secondly, the recruitment test was held only on 2 November, 2025, after being postponed multiple times due to administrative reasons. Expecting the mains to be conducted merely 25 days later is neither practical nor fair. The commission still has to complete evaluation and prepare question papers and centres, while candidates too require adequate time to prepare for descriptive papers.

Thirdly, the period ahead is already packed with state panchayat elections and university semester examinations, making an immediate mains examination administratively difficult.

In light of these facts, pushing for the old dates only adds to the confusion and puts unnecessary pressure on both aspirants and the commission. Instead, we should rely on the official statement and allow the commission to announce a realistic and fair date that ensures transparency and equal opportunity.

Therefore, instead of insisting on outdated dates, candidates must wait for the commission’s official notification to avoid unnecessary confusion and pressure.
