PASIGHAT, 18 Jun: Matters related to the execution of various schemes undertaken by the women & child development (WCD) department were discussed during a ‘zonal-wise state level review meeting’ of the department at the East Siang deputy commissioner’s office here on Friday.
Besides the directors and CDPOs of seven districts – Lower Siang, Leparada, West Siang, Shi-Yomi, Siang, Upper Siang and East Siang – the meeting was attended by WCD Secretary CN Longphai, WCD Special Secretary Akriti Sagar, and WCD Director TP Loyi.
Longphai in his address said that “the activities to be carried out by the department are evolving and dynamic, as every day there is a beneficiary with pregnant mother and a newborn.”
He urged the officers to “go for wide media campaign and advocacy campaign, so that 100 percent is done in all the schemes of the department.”
Sagar in her address commended the works done by the district and block level officials, but added that “we still have a long way to go because beneficiaries are increasing every day, for which we have to work with full enthusiasm.”
Earlier, Loyi in her address explained the details of the schemes undertaken by the WCD department.
“The government of India has restructured the ICDS Poshan Abhiyan for adolescent girls and the National Creche Scheme into the Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 to converge nutrition-related initiatives across ministries and strengthen outcomes,” she said.
All the deputy directors shared the good practices carried out in their districts. (DIPRO)
