DIRANG, 30 Apr: The National Research Centre on Yak (NRCY) here in West Kameng district marked the World Intellectual Property (IP) Day on Thursday.
Addressing the participants, NRCY PS Dr D Medhi presented a brief on the importance and preservation of IP rights and the theme of the World IP Day, 2026, ie, ‘IP and sports: Ready, set and innovate’.
Amrita Majumdar, patent attorney at S Majumdar & Co, Kolkata, West Bengal, virtually spoke on the topic, ‘Patenting and commercialisation’, elaborating knowledge on patent and management aspects of IPRs of the council.
NRCY Director Dr Mihir Sarkar highlighted the “process flow and the importance of IP protection, and technology commercialisation,” the NRCY informed in a release.
He also encouraged the participating scientists and technical officers of the institute to come forward with their technology, publication, reports and designs related to their projects/sections for IPR application for licencing in the form of patents, copyrights, trademarks etc.
A total of 26 participations, including scientist, technical officers, administrative persons, and RA/YPs participated in the programme, the release said.
