ITANAGAR, Jul 24: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded that the state government transfer the multi-crore Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) land compensation scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
A delegation of the APCC, led by its vice-president Minkir Lollen on Monday met Chief Minister Pema Khandu in his office here and expressed the party’s deep concern over the scam involving the Potin-Bopi and the Joram-Koloriang portions of the TAH.
Besides the demand for handing over the case to the premier investigation agency, the party sought immediate reassessment of the entire stretch of the road; land compensation for the genuine landowners/affected people; arrest of all those involved in the scam; and early construction of the highway, an APCC release said.
It said the chief minister assured to “take up the issue seriously and punish all those involved in the scam, irrespective of their position, status and political affiliation.”
The APCC also said the CM assured to convene a meeting with the fact-finding committee “as and when the chief secretary resumes duty,” to review the findings of the committee.
The APCC quoted Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who was also present in the meeting, as saying that the reduction in the breadth of the RoW from 24 mtrs to 14 mtrs was only for the town and government establishment areas.
“The discussion was very meaningful in the interest of real beneficiaries of affected areas,” the release added.
