ITANAGAR, Oct 4: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has under Section 20(1) RTI Act, 2005 imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on Public Information Officer (PIO)-cum-Executive Engineer PWD Division Yazali, Lower Subansiri for defying the order of the Commission in connection with appeal case no. APIC-125/2017 made by appellants Techi Kak, Bath Yagar and Techi Tongum.
The Commission has directed the PIO-cum-Executive Engineer PWD Division Yazali, Lower Subansiri to deposit the said penalty amount on or before October 16, 2017 and to appear before the Commission on the same date and time, along with deposited copy of the Treasury challan information as sought for by the appellants.
It further informed that section 20(2) of the Right to Information Act, 2005 will be invoked against the PIO in case of his failure to comply with the order.
