School students take part in energy conservation awareness prog

TEZU, Oct 27: “In today’s modern world, we cannot think of living without electricity which is needed in our day to day activities”, said Karma Leki, Deputy Commissioner Lohit during a one- day awareness workshop on energy conservation & energy efficiency.
Referring to the UJALA YOJANA, a flagship programme of the Prime Minister, he urged the students to go for energy efficient electrical product like LED which consume less energy. He also advised them to follow energy saving practices like switching off the lights & fans, when not in use.
Energy Auditor and former Director of Energy Department, National Productivity Council, Govt. of India A. K. Sinha, was the Resource Person, who stressed on educating the children at young age itself about the concept of energy conservation and its efficient use. Sinha tried to educate the students about the energy efficiency and Energy Saving through adopting ‘Standard and Star Labeled Products’.
Earlier, Deputy Director, APEDA N. Tangha in his keynote address stressed upon the need to conserve energy and also to use energy efficient appliance, which also helps in reducing electric bills.
The workshop sponsored by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), and organized by APEDA, Tezu was attended by about 150 Science students of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Tezu. (DIPRO)
