AALO, Dec 16: A four-day exposure visit of a 30-member team of officials, panchayat members and NGO representatives from Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey and Lower Subansiri districts to West Siang district concluded on Saturday.
During the exposure trip, the team visited Kabu, Kugi Pomte, Kambu, Bene, Jirdin, Yigikaum, and other adjoining areas to take stock of the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The team members interacted with the panchayat leaders and the residents of open defecation-free (ODF) villages to gain knowledge about the cleanliness drive, their social life and cultural life,besides their farming system.
West Siang district has recently become the second district in the state to achieve ODF status.
The team’s leader and Kra Daadi Deputy Commissioner, Pige Ligu, and his West Siang counterpart, Swetika Sachan, opined that such goodwill exposure visits are essential to build up mutual trust and promote unity and oneness among various tribes of the state, besides exchanging view on development.
At Bene, PWD Chief Engineer, Kengom Ete, said that such mutual exchanges would go a long way in fostering values and unity among various tribes.
The PHED EEs of Kra Daadi and West Siang, Likha Tekhi and Kirba Sora, also spoke. (DIPRO)
