ITANAGAR, May 16: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), took cognizance of the complaint lodged by the North East Human Rights Organization regarding death of a newborn at a government-run health centre in Namsai recently, and said that an open sitting/hearing of the case will be conducted at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre, Indira Gandhi Park, here on 25 May at 10 am.
The NHRC, while asking the chief secretary of the state to submit a detailed information/report of the case to the commission immediately after he received the order, has also directed the chief secretary to remain present during the date of hearing/sitting.
Otherwise, the commission may proceed to take such action as it deems proper, the NHCR order issued to the chief secretary said.
