DAPORIJO, May 18: The gaon burahs and head gaon burahs of Gusar, Chetam, Giba, Sigin-I, and Sigin-II on Friday took part in an awareness camp here on their role in protection and preservation of wildlife.
During the programme, which was jointly conducted by the Clean Dapo and Green Dapo team and the Upper Subansiri district administration, resource person Rocky Motu highlighted the duties and responsibilities of the GBs at the village level. He appealed to them to uphold the honour and dignity of their red coat and guide the villagers on behalf of the district administration.
Resource person Binjir Bui explained the legal aspect of wildlife protection, and SP Taru Gusar appealed to the GBs and the HGBs to cooperate with the administration and the police to help maintain law and order in the district.
All Upper Subansiri Gaon Bura Association president Bhupen Dujum and the HGB of Nima village also spoke.
