Committee seeks ban on use of plastic in IG Park

ITANAGAR, May 28: The Forest Colony Welfare Committee in a representation to the chief secretary on Monday appealed to him to direct the authorities to ban the use of plastic in Indira Gandhi Park.
The committee also requested the CS to issue an order directing government departments and private parties to desist from encroaching on and constructing structures within the park.
“Of late it has been observed that the government is establishing many huge structures inside the park, while many private individuals are encroaching on the park area. Various activities like melas, cultural programmes, political rallies, etc, within the park also cause damage to the beautification of the park itself,” the committee stated.
