Moyong visits JNC, assures to resolve issues

PASIGHAT, Jun 13: Parliamentary Secretary for Disaster Management, Kaling Moyong was on an unannounced informal visit to Jawaharlal Nehru College on Wednesday morning to take firsthand information of the prevailing conditions of the college’s academic atmosphere and the institutional progress in the recent years.
Accompanied by a host of senior and prominent citizens of Pasighat and East Siang district, Moyong held an emergency meeting of all categories of staff in the upper campus.
Principal of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Dr Milorai Modi briefly described the activities of the college and the measures to improve
the ambience in academic andother aspects of the institution. He laid stress on the necessity of such measures in the light of the impending visit of the NAAC peer team in the near future for the reaccreditation of the college under cycle III.
He requested the visiting dignitaries to direct the executing agency to start the work of double-lane work(widening) of the road from the lower campus to the upper campus at the earliest as the funds have been already sanctioned by the government and the tender process has also been completed.
Dr Modi placed the issue of starting BEd course in the college as it has been already sanctioned by the government. He also highlighted that the college will be offering Sociology as a subject from the 2018-2019session, and accordingly, requested for immediate posting of faculty in the department.
He also informed of the limitations of the institution in providing ideal conditions of education to students in terms of limited accommodation facilities in classrooms and hostels, choice of courses, shortage of teachers, infrastructural and logistical deficiencies, etc, the untiring efforts of the faculty and staff notwithstanding.
Dr Modi also requested to ensure the functional status of the Arunachal Pradesh State University at the earliest.
Moyong, who is also the local MLA, assured to devote his time and support as and when the college needed it. He gave strong assurance to the college community to solve a majority of their problems by 2018 -2019.
The MLA and his contingent also took a tour of the college premises and visited all the sites of ongoing construction in the campus. Moyong assured everyone that he would ensure quality and timely completion of all the ongoing projects in the college.
