Workshop on SUSV & SMID held

ZIRO, Sep 27: The Lower Subansiri district urban development agency (DUDA) conducted a workshop under the support to urban street vendors (SUSV) and the social mobilization & institution development (SM&ID) components of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) at Abotani Hall here on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner Chukhu Takar, who chaired the programme, spoke about health consciousness among the street vendors, and urged them to remain healthy.
State Urban Livelihoods Mission manager Ravi Sharma explained the DAY-NULM, and urged the SHGs and vendors to avail the benefits. He also urged the street vendors and SHGs to cooperate with the DUDA for beautification of Ziro, and to comply with the routine door-to-door collection of waste.
DMO Dr Tage Kano spoke on food safety, health, and hygiene among street vendors, while advocate Bamin Apa highlighted the legal issues related to the state’s street vendors’ act.
During the workshop, members of eight SHGs received revolving fund of Rs 10,000 each, and 182 registered street vendors were given a day’s wage, amounting to Rs 300 each, through the public finance management system portal.
The meeting was attended by members of the Town Vending Committee, UPO, AUPOs, DUDA officials, surveyed street vendors, and SHG members.
