IMC’s ‘Go Live’ project dead for a week

ITANAGAR, Oct 3: Requests from the denizens for birth and death certificates and trading licenses are piling up at the Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) for the last seven days without any action being taken because of ‘link failure’ of the much touted ‘Go Live’ e-governance project.
The ‘Go Live’ e-governance project was implemented by the Urban Development department in September last year and was executed by Hyderabad based IT company M/s Navayuga Infotech Ltd in collaboration with Telearch Technologies Pvt Ltd.
The project had made the IMC the first local body to go digital and enabled it to process requests for birth and death certificates besides issuing and renewing trading licenses digitally.
However, for the last week the beneficiaries have had to turn back dejected because of ‘link failure’ in accessing www.IMC.arunachal.gov.in.
A beneficiary on condition of anonymity said that the late fee for renewal of his trading license is increasing day by day only because the web portal cannot be accessed.
“Every time I come here to inquire about the renewal of my trading license, the only answer I get from the IMC is that there is link failure,” he said.
Officials at the IMC informed that they have taken serious note of the matter and will be writing to the concerned authorities and the BSNL in this regard at the earliest. They informed that while other web portals can be accessed, it is only www.IMC.arunachal.gov.in which cannot be accessed, thus rendering them “defunct” in this department for the last seven days.
Acknowledging that it is causing great inconvenience to the public, the officials expressed hope that the issue would be resolved at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Naharlagun BSNL JTO Taji Haging informed that there is no fault in their service and the matter needs to be resolved by the authorities of the particular server.
“If a particular web portal cannot be accessed while others can be, then there is a problem with that particular server only,” he said, adding that they will, however, assist the IMC officials in the matter wherever possible to resolve the issue. (ATNS)
