Bold step needed to ban polythene bags: DC

DAPORIJO, Jun 11: Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf said “a bold step must be taken” to completely ban the use of polythene bags in the district.
Presiding over a meeting of the district level monitoring committee here on Tuesday, Ashraf asked the officers and the public to join hands to carry out cleanliness drives on a mission mode. He directed the DUDA EE to prepare the action plan on solid and liquid waste management before 30 June.
Highlighting the waste management plans, the DUDA EE proposed door-to-door collection of garbage.
The DMO highlighted the status of biomedical waste management.
The meeting was attended by the administrative officials, and members of the market committee, student bodies and NGOs. (DIPRO)
