ITANAGAR, Jul 27: Eight teams – Upper Siang (from Pool A), West Siang (Pool B), West Kameng (Pool C), Lower Siang (Pool D), East Siang (Pool E), Capital Complex (Pool F), Lower Dibang Valley (Pool G), and East Kameng (Pool H) – made to the quarterfinals (QF) of the state level Subroto Cup football tournament for U-17 boys which will be played on Sunday at the DNGC playground here.
On the last day of the league matches played on Saturday, GSS Motum (East Siang) beat GHSS Anini (Dibang Valley) 2-0 at the DNGC playground. Neymar Pangin and India Saroh scored a goal each in the second and the 27th minutes for GSS Motum.
On the other hand, GHSS Palin (Kra Daadi) defeated GHSS Hayuliang (Anjaw) 1-0 at the RGGP playground. Miching Kaming scored the only goal for the winning team.
Match No 16 was abandoned as GHSS Yingkiong (Upper Siang) has already made to the quarterfinals. Similarly, match No 18, which was supposed to be played between GHSS Changliang (Lohit) and GHSS Pessing (Siang) was also abandoned as GHSS Kamba (West Siang) has already entered the QF from the pool.
In the afternoon session, GHSS Bomdila (West Kameng) got a bye against the Upper Subansiri team as the latter surprisingly did not turn up this year.
In the match played between GHSS Roing (Lower Dibang Valley) and GHSS Mahadevpur (Namsai) at the RGGP playground, GHSS Roing won by a margin of 5-0.
Match No 22 was played between GHSS Likabali (Lower Siang) and GHSS Doimukh (Papum Pare) at the DNGC playground.
GHSS Likabali defeated GHSS Doimukh, and the only goal for the winning team was scored by Mukem Gibo in 60 + minutes.
The last match of the day was played between DKGHSS Ziro (Lower Subansiri) and GHSS Seppa (East Kameng), in which GHSS Seppa defeated DK GHSS 3-1. For the winning team, Tassar Kamki scored two goals, and one goal was scored by Lapung Samgyu. For the losing team, Mom Tanya scored the lone goal.
