Action plans for NDD discussed

YUPIA, Sep 20: Papum Pare DC Pige Ligu on Friday urged all stakeholders, including medical officers and line departments, to work with a missionary zeal to make the National Deworming Day (NDD) on 26 September a success.
Participating in a meeting here to discuss the action plan for the second round of the NDD in the district, the DC directed the DDSE and the ICDS DD to ensure that information regarding NDD reaches all schools and anganwadi centres in the far-flung areas, “so that no child is left out of the programme.”
Among others, Dr Subu Tasso Kampu, ICDS DD A Lowangcha, and DDSE T Zara spoke.
DRDCHO Dr Worar Taku made a PowerPoint presentation on the NDD, which aims at combating the health risk posed by intestinal worms in children and adults.
The Changlang District Health Society (DHS) also on Friday held a meeting on the NDD and routine immunization (RI).
DC RK Sharma, who chaired the meeting, advocated convergence of key departments for implementation of all the government programmes.
He instructed the health officials, ASHAs and anganwadi workers and helpers to ensure that every individual between 6 months and 19 years of age are provided with albendazole syrup/tablet.
He also advised the CHCs in Miao and Jairampur, and the PHC in Nampong to immunize all the left-out children during the RI.
DMO Dr CL Manchey expressed confidence that the district would achieve good coverage in the forthcoming NDD.
DRCHO Dr J Ado and DDSE Hartum Loyi also spoke.
A similar meeting was also held in Khonsa in Tirap district, during which DC Hakresha Kri exhorted the medical officers and frontline health workers to play a proactive role during the NDD.
DMO Dr K Mossang, DRCHO Dr N Angu, ICDS DD Hacham Bangsia, and DDSE’s representative T Tangjang also spoke. (DIPROs)
