SEPPA, Sep 20: In order to resolve the prolonged standoff between the East Kameng district administration and the residents of Pampoli over the dumping of waste on the District Urban Development Agency’s (DUDA) dumping yard located in Pampoli, another round of negotiation was held at the DC office here on Wednesday.
During the meeting, which was chaired by DC (in-charge) Dahey Sangno, it was resolved that the DUDA would identify a suitable location for use as a permanent dumping yard, latest by 31 March, 2020.
Until the time a permanent site is identified or a solid waste management project is put in place, the DUDA will continue to dump waste on the current dumping site in Pampoli, while strictly following the standard operation procedures, it was decided.
A waste disposal monitoring committee, comprising members representing the Pampoli area, the administration and NGOs will be constituted to ensure proper disposal of waste.
The DUDA, in coordination with the health department, will also carry out fogging operation in the vicinity of the current dumping site at regular intervals.
The meeting was attended by, among others, UD and Housing EE Tarh Hachey, ADI Nondo Doka, EKSWCO vice chairperson Dali Tajo, Medical Superintendent Dr Kopi Gyadi, and EKCCI president Tassang Taku. (DIPRO)
