State-level workshop on measles, rubella held

ITANAGAR, Nov 5: The National Health Mission, Arunachal Pradesh, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) organised a state-level workshop on ‘Measles elimination and rubella control’ for district RCH officers and medical officers, at a city hotel here on Tuesday.
WHO SMOs – Drs S Sarkar and Ushma – the WHO’s ‘focal person’, Dr Megha Parkash, and MO (Immunization), Dr Tage Taka, sensitized the participants to the measles rubella surveillance methodology and how to strengthen it.
Health Services Director Dr M Lego urged the participants to work in coordination and with commitment towards achieving the goal.
State Immunization Officer Dr D Padung asked the participants to report and investigate any case of suspected measles “and focus on strengthening the routine immunization, which will ultimately help in achieving measles elimination and rubella control in India by 2023.”
Family Welfare Deputy Director Dr C Mongmaw also spoke.
