34 units of blood donated

NIRJULI, Nov 9: Thirty-four units of blood were collected during a voluntary blood donation camp conducted by the NSS Cell of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), in collaboration with the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun at the NERIST health unit here on Saturday.
During the camp, TRIHMS Blood Bank Officer Dr Tashi Paleng briefed the donors about the benefits of blood donation and about the dos and don’ts of post donation. He also cleared many doubts of the donors regarding voluntary blood donation.
NSS NERIST Coordinator Dr A Dinamani Singh requested the concerned officials to maintain proper haemo vigilance to encourage holistic blood donors.
Addressing the donors, NERIST Director Prof HS Yadav said, “People who are fit and between the ages of 18-65 years should make a habit of donating blood at least twice a year.”
The staff of TRIHMS blood bank, along with faculty members and students of Zion Institute of Nursing, Nirjuli provided technical support for the camp.
