Injectable-free treatment for drug-resistance TB

NAHARLAGUN, Feb 5: An injectable-free all-oral longer regimen for drug resistant Tuberculosis (TB) patients was launched by the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) at the district TB center- cum-nodal drug-resistant TB center here on Wednesday.
Director Health Services Dr M Lego launched the new oral longer regimen for drug resistant TB by giving the first dose to the eligible patient in presence of the State TB Officer Dr Moi Nyori, TRIHMS Chief Medical Superintendent
H Ambing, District TB Officer (NTEP) Dr PD Thongchi and senior medical officers.
“The new drug will provide much relief to the drug resistant TB patients who earlier used to receive daily dose of injectable for up to six months,” informed Dr Nyori.
