Team on trek to create awareness on wildlife

RUPA, Feb 13: A 30-member team comprising local youths and staffers of the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary (EWS) in West Kameng district are on a four-day trek themed ‘Save wildlife – Save future’, which began from Doimara on Wednesday.
Organised by Rupa-based Tukpen Village Council and the EWS, the 45-km long trek is aimed at creating awareness among the local youths about the rich biodiversity of the EWS, and to familiarize them with the old trek route taken by the Shertukpens during their winter migration to the foothill areas.
Rupa ADC Suraj Gurung flagged off the team, which is led by former ZPC RD Thongdok. The trek will end at Thungree village near here on 15 February. (DIPRO)
