NAHARLAGUN, Mar 9: The Itanagar branch of the CSIR’s North East Institute of Science & Technology (NEIST) conducted a training programme on mushroom cultivation for a group of students from Dehradun (Uttarakhand)-based Dolphin (PG) Institute of Biomedical & Natural Sciences, here on Monday.
Senior technical officer of the NEIST branch, Dr Budhen Ch Baruah, made a PowerPoint presentation on the nutrient and medicinal values of mushrooms, and spoke on the prospects of commercial cultivation of mushroom.
Dr Baruah also presented a demonstration on preparation of mushroom bags. The students later visited the NEIST branch’s mushroom incubation centre.
