Traders increase price

Roing, Mar 25: Despite orders from the DA to not increase the price of food items and other basic commodities, rates of vegetables and rice were increased by the traders today at Roing.
While onions were available for rupees 40 per kilo untill yesterday, today the price was hiked to rupees 50 per kilo. Similarly, an increase of rupees 5 was seen in potatoes and dal, and a rupees 10 extra refined oil. Rupees 100 was increased in the rate of 50kg rice bags too.
Some people in social media reported of having been charged rupees 50 for a single maggie packet. Any truth in this claim is yet to be known.
According to sources, the matter of raised rates has been taken into cognisance and the Tax and Excise Department is constantly monitoring the rates and availability of goods in the market. However, it was found that rates have been increasing at the main source in Assam itself.
