One sentenced to 10 years RI for rape

TEZU, 13 May: One Dulpak Saring has been convicted under Section 376 (2) (f) of the IPC for the rape of a minor under a POCSO case and sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI).

The special judge of the POCSO court here in Lohit district, Yomge Ado sentenced Saring to 10 years of RI with a fine of Rs 1,000. In case of default, the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment of another one month.

The judgment was pronounced on 3 May and the order was passed on 10 May.

Earlier, on 16 April, 2019, Saring had been accused of raping a minor. He is in judicial custody since 17 April, 2019, in connection with the case.
