Agartala to host U-21 NE Football League, NEFDC delegation calls on Tripura CM

ITANAGAR, 23 Feb: The Tripura government has decided to host and organize the first U-21 North East Football League in Agartala in October this year.

The decision was taken after the North East Football Development Council (NEFDC), led by its general secretary Kipa Ajay called on Tripura Chief Minister Biplap Kumar Deb and the state’s Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury in Agartala on Tuesday and discussed various issues related to development of football in the North East.

Ajay, who also is the general secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association, thanked the Tripura chief minister and the sports and youth affairs minister for inviting them to discuss the development of football in the region.

The NEFDC was formed by the eight Northeastern state football associations in 2020 at Shillong, Meghalaya with an aim to augment the development of football in the region alongside the efforts of the All India Football Federation in football development.

Besides this, the council plans to coordinate with the state governments of the Northeastern states to provide every possible facility to football players and aid the state football associations.
