BARAK, 24 Feb: A ‘disaster awareness programme and mock exercise on earthquake, landslide, fire accident, flood, etc’ was conducted jointly by the Tirap district disaster management authority and the district administration in Soha circle on Wednesday.
The awareness programme and mock exercise were conducted as part of a Sarkar Aapke Dwar camp, under the supervision of an SDRF team from the SDRF regional centre in Khonsa. All HoDs of Deomali subdivision, along with PRI members, volunteers, NGOs’ members and students from Barak, Old Dongrong, New Dongrong, New Phinthing, Old Phinthing and Kenon villages took part in the programme.
Tirap DDMO (in-charge) Pik Tayom urged the participants to be “very careful and learn all the techniques and safety tips to avoid any type of untoward incident during the winter season, as most of the cases of fire accidents are reported during this season.”
Deomali SDO Akan Regon, chief of Dongrong village Winwang Sawin, and NGO Patkai Hill Welfare chairperson Katro Shin also attended the programme. (DIPRO)
