Rally organised to mark World Bicycle Day

ITANAGAR, 3 Jun: Over 75 cyclists participated in a bicycle rally from IG Park to Yupia, organised by the state unit of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, in association with the youth affairs department, the Arunachal Cycling Association, smart city Itanagar, the RGNIYD and the NSS, to mark the World Bicycle Day on 3 June.

The event was led by Sports Minister Mama Natung, in the presence of the West Kameng deputy commissioner, Youth Affairs Director Ramesh Linggi, the transport director, the civil supply director, and others.

“Today’s cycle rally is to raise awareness on the important message of healthy living, protecting the environment, uphold good old traditions, communal harmony and promote plastic-free environment,” Natung said.

The minister also raised the slogan, “Drugs choro, cycle pe joro” to encourage the youths to lead healthy lives “and dismiss violence and drugs from the society.”

The Namsai and the Papum Pare NYKs also celebrated the day with similar events, state NYKS director Inkhuanguang informed in a release.
