DAPORIJO, 1 Jul: More than 150 girl students from various schools of Upper Subansiri district are participating in a three-day ‘Rani Laxmi Bai Atmaraksha Prashikshan’ (self-defence training) which got underway at Singik Hall here on Friday.
The programme is being organised under the Integrated Scheme for School Education (ISSE).
Martial art experts from the Waido Kai Karate Association are training the students.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Daporijo ADC Taga Ekke encouraged the girls to “take physical training for self-defence and abstain from any kind of physical attempt from their counterparts in any situation.”
ISSE district coordinator Mathum Raji, who is also the organiser of the training programme, apprised the students of the need to train girl students in martial arts.
